Salt Lake City - March 31, 2021 - O.C. Tanner, the global leader in employee recognition and workplace culture, today announced that Beatryx (Bea) Washington, Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Kyle Petersen, Senior Counsel for Data Privacy and Product, have been named to Utah Business’ Legal Elite 2021 list.
Bea was honored in the in-house counsel category, and Kyle was honored as a promising up-and-comer. In his first year of work at O.C. Tanner, Kyle has already made a name for himself for his work on many of the company’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) accounts, including some of O.C. Tanner’s largest customers. His supervisor and head of counsel at O.C. Tanner, Bea, shared “Kyle hit the ground running when he joined O.C. Tanner. He implemented processes and contract changes that made us better, and he always takes the right tone when explaining our data practices to various clients. We are fortunate to have him on our team.”
In addition to leading O.C. Tanner’s larger legal team, in the last year, Bea has overseen the information security challenges of working from home, COVID-19 safety guidelines and has participated in a number of corporate strategic initiatives.

Each year, Utah Business surveys attorneys throughout the state of Utah for peer nominations for those working within the legal field. Nominated attorneys are then ranked according to their practice category and only those who earn enough votes to place them in the top 10% of nominations within their category are selected as finalists for the Legal Elite list. Those finalists are then verified by a panel of 15 attorneys selected by the Utah State Bar to eliminate bias and provide an objective, third-party verification of the results.
